The Matcha Essentials Set contains the traditional tools for preparing matcha: a handmade matcha bowl (chawan), a chasen holder, a bamboo whisk (chasen), a bamboo scoop (chashaku) and a matcha sieve (strainer) – plus instructions. The set is available in three colours: Vanilla Dust, Toasted Sand and Soft Coal.
No. The Essentials Set is an accessories-only set and does not include tea. This lets you freely choose your favourite matcha – for example our Everyday Matcha or Culinary Matcha. If you'd like tea and accessories together, our Matcha Starter Kit is the right alternative.
Both sets contain the tools for preparing matcha. The Starter Kit also includes our Everyday Matcha and is the ideal all-in-one entry point. The Essentials Set is an accessories-only set without tea, but with a handmade ceramic bowl and a chasen holder, available in three colours – ideal if you already have your matcha or want to combine freely.
The set is available in three tones: Vanilla Dust (light), Toasted Sand (warm sand) and Soft Coal (dark). Colour and glaze are applied by hand, making each piece unique.
Yes, the glazed stoneware bowl is dishwasher-safe. The bamboo whisk (chasen), however, should only be rinsed with clear, warm water and left to air-dry – ideally prongs-up on the included chasen holder.
The set suits anyone who wants to prepare matcha in a stylish, traditional way – from getting started to a fully equipped ritual. With its handmade ceramics, colour choice and quality packaging, it also makes a special gift for tea and matcha fans.
First soak the chasen in warm water for about a minute so the prongs become flexible. Sift 1 tsp (about 2 g) of matcha into the bowl using the strainer, add around 60 ml of hot, not boiling water (~80 °C), and whisk with the chasen using loose M-shaped movements from the wrist until frothy. Enjoy on its own or pour over milk for a latte.
Colour and glaze are applied by hand, and fine irregularities arise during firing. These small variations are intentional and make each bowl a handmade, one-of-a-kind piece.
The ceramic bowl is dishwasher-safe. The whisk, scoop and sieve are best rinsed only with clear, warm water – without soap – and left to air-dry. Place the chasen on the chasen holder to dry and keep its shape.
